LEVEL Beginner - This course is tailored for the person who wishes to enter Aviation as a professional RPAS Pilot/operator for unmanned aircraft from 250g - 25kg.

LOCATION Online

COURSE MATERIALS  are provided and are as follows but not limited to: Transport Canada Aeronautical Information Manual, VTA Aeronautical Map, NAV Canada Flight Manual Supplement. Materials will be sent to you at time of registration.

OBJECTIVE This online course is tailored for the person who wishes to enter into the Unmanned Aircraft sector as a professional RPAS/UAV pilot/operator. It will provide the student with a thorough understanding of the Transport Canada's newly announced Regulations and  Knowlelge Reguirements. Thereby allowing the student to compliantly operate an unmanned aircraft in restricted airspace, in and around high-risk environments, within VLOS. This course will prepare an individual with:

  • no aviation knowledge or regulation understanding, or
  • the beginner RPAS/UAV pilot with limited knowledge

to write the ADVANCED Operations license from Transport Canada (TC).

We will help you:

  • Understand what regulations cover, and where additional processes are necessary to create a safe and efficient RPAS operation.
  • Reduce risk, improve safety and build confidence in the reliability of your operations.
  • have adequate training and competency.
  • understand the importance for Company Operating Manuals, and Safe Operating Procedures in your RPAS operation. These along with Safety and Compliance Audits,  will allow you to access a wider potential market. These documents are the required "game changers" in taking your RPAS operation to the Professional level and position you for the lucrative and sought-after contracts.
  • see the multiple opportunities for Professional RPAS operators in this rapidly developing industry across diverse disciplines for services such as surveying, photography, real estate, roofing, Imagery for construction monitoring, equipment performance, drainage, GIS, and topography, thermal detection of hot spots, electrical equipment, emissions, and mechanical issues.

Course curriculum covers all of Transport Canada's NEW Regulations and Knowledge Areas:

  • Air Law, Air Traffic Rules and Procedures
  • Airframes, Engines and Systems
  • Human Factors
  • Meteorology
  • Navigation and Navigation Aids
  • Flight Operations
  • Theory of Flight
  • Radiotelephony

This is approximately a 24-hour online course that is designed to take students without aviation experience and give them the tools needed to become an RPAS/UAV operator. The student will be supported with multiple assessments, downloads, and practice tests available to support learning.

While completing our course does not guarantee a “pass” on T C’s exam we are committed to supporting our students. We are here to support you with access to an instructor, lots of practise questions and experiences in taking timed online exams.

You decide when you are ready to write the licencing exam. If one of our students is unsuccessful on the exam, we will provide remedial support. We have your back!

This is a unique offer - online learning at your own pace. Students will have access to the course for three months after registration.

With a successful pass on the Transport Canada exam you will then be positioned to complete the second element of licencing - The FLIGHT REVIEW.
